Pumpkins, cinnamon, mums, fire pits, and cozy sweaters—fall is here! Even if the South doesn’t feel crisp just yet, the leaves are beginning to turn.
Dates to Remember October 6 – Harvest Supermoon The first full moon of October is also a Supermoon—appearing larger and brighter than usual as it reaches its closest point to Earth.
October 9 – Draconid Meteor Shower
October 12 – Columbus Day Observed on the second Monday of October.
Columbus first landed on an island in the Bahamas.
October 21–22 – Orionid Meteor Shower
October 31 – Halloween Celebrate with witches, goblins, and ghouls! Dinner Dance – Volunteers Needed Help make this year’s Dinner Dance sparkle! Greeters – welcome guests each night. Decorations – set up on December 12 and take down on December 13. Check-in – assist with guest check-in and hand out table markers. OCTOBER MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON
MAGGIE MARMACK, PRESIDENT FAITH “FIGHTING CANCER”
In 2010, Montgomery County area women whose lives had been affected by cancer were inspired to form FAITH “Fighting Cancer” in Montgomery County. FAITH is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer driven organization, neither affiliated with religious denominations nor other organizations. Since 2010, FAITH has raised funds to help area cancer patients and their families. We assist our neighbors who may have trouble finding assistance elsewhere, and provide educational and early detection screening and preventative care programs for men, women and children.
October 13, 2025 The doors to the Yacht Club open at 10:30 am.
The menu for the lunch: Meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans and dinner rolls. Dessert: Pecan Pie If you prefer the alternate meal, salad with spring mix, tomato, cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg and hot grilled chicken, make this request when registering. Lunch orders cannot be changed after the registration deadline. A cash bar for wine and champagne is available.
October Luncheon Reservation Deadline Reservations are due by MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5TH. Use the Bentwater App, go online or call the Club at 936.597.6219 (weekdays). Please make sure you have a confirmation from the Club for your lunch reservation as it will be required to check in. Please wear your name tag so the many new members can get to know you
