PRESIDENT’S PEN
Mary Frances Doris
I hope your Halloween was happy! Boy, time is flying. Before we know it, the holidays will be here. There is still so much to do in the BLO too.
Let’s give those nine beautiful ladies in the fashion show a shout out! The fashions were gorgeous, and our wonderful Bentwater Ladies rocked them all! The Dillard’s shopping day was well attended and I, for one, bought a little too much! Don’t miss a bit of the next few items, there is a lot going on in the coming months.
First, the November 13th luncheon will feature Lisa Shumate, a local personality and author who will speak to us about rocking being over 50!!. Also, we will feature some of our own Bentwater Ladies who have a side hustle. There will be cooking items, makeup, wine, clothing, and jewelry items on display and available for purchase. Let’s support our members, so bring your wallets and get those Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.
Home Tour tickets will be on sale as well. They are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. The Home Tour is Tuesday, December 5th and Wednesday, December 6th . Five beautiful homes will be on display.
November Mix and Mingle is early this month. It is Tuesday, November 14th so we don’t interfere with Thanksgiving week. The theme is a salute to Veterans - keep reading for all the details!
Next, I have some good news and some bad news. First, the good news is that the Holiday Dinner Dance is completely full for both Friday and Saturday, December 8th and 9th .It is going to be a sparkly and joyful event. The bad news is that we did not have enough interest in the Sunday date to justify the costs so it will not be happening on Sunday.
In December, the luncheon will feature the Lake Creek High School Choir. Also at this luncheon, your newly elected officers will be installed. Please join us for our last member event of the year.
As per our tradition, we provide home-baked cookies to the entire staff of Bentwater. Please bring your cookies to the December luncheon. Even if you are not attending the luncheon, we would appreciate your participation in this long-standing tradition. They do not need to be in a pretty container as after the luncheon, the cookies will be packaged and delivered to every department in Bentwater. We would prefer they be brought in something we can dispose of so that we do not have to return any containers to their owners.
See you soon and often at the Bentwater Ladies Holiday Activities.

MJ The Musical Wednesday, November 15, 2023 4:30 - 11:30pm — Houston Hobby Center
The Broadway production of MJ Musical. Centered on the events surrounding his 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Michael Jackson, who many consider the greatest entertainer of all time, this production “just Beat it”, winning the most Tony awards of any new musical. It goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of MJ offering a rare look at his creative mind and collaborative spirit. Come share a “Thriller” of a show with the BLO. Cost is $146 which includes bus, driver tip, wine, water, snacks and theater ticket. Because of its understandable popularity BLO has a limit of 46 tickets. We will stop for dinner on your own dime beforehand, restaurant TBD.
TINA Thursday, January 4, 2024 - Houston Hobby Center Broadway
The Tina Turner Musical. From her humble beginnings in Tennessee to her eventual rise to be crowned World Queen of rock n roll, this stage production was presented in association with Tina herself. With her “Big Wheels Turning” it reveals the untold story of how Tina shook off the bounds of age, sex and race by not only breaking the rules but rewriting them. Pam saw her in concert a few years ago and comments, “the Lady still got it!”
Cost is $145 which includes bus, driver tip, wine, water, snacks and ticket to the show. As with MJ, tickets are limited so the BLO has only 46. Each paying their own way, we will go to dinner before TINA, restaurant TBD.
TO SIGN-UP FOR THE ABOVE TRIPS Contact Pam Gallagher via email pamgallagher79@gmail.com anytime or text 832.724.6200. Tickets may also be purchased at August’s Mix and Mingle or at the September luncheon. NO RESERVATIONS will be accepted without immediate payment. Spouses are welcome but all other plus ones must be members of BLO. In person you may use a credit card or check payable to BLO. Online sign ups may drop their check payable to BLO into the box on Pam’s stoop, 115 Sarasota Circle, S or N same home. All payment will be verified in some format.
