Hello and Happy New Year! I am excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Cheryl Campbell, and I am your 2026 Bentwater Ladies Organization (BLO) President. My husband Jon and I moved to Bentwater five years ago to be closer to our two youngest grandchildren. I became a member of the BLO soon after moving here and have served as chairwoman of the Program committee in 2023 and most recently as Vice President in 2025. Moving here during Covid was a bit of a challenge when it came to meeting neighbors and getting involved, but joining the BLO provided me with the best friendships. I first attended the Newcomers Brunch in the Fall of 2020 and quickly made friends with some wonderful women. There was talk of the Holiday Dinner Dance (aka “Bentwater Prom”) at that brunch, and many of us decided it was a good idea to put together a couple of tables and attend. We thought it would be a great way for our husbands to meet, and who wouldn’t want an excuse to buy a new holiday dress and get a chance to dance the evening away with our men. Unfortunately because of Covid, the dance was cancelled but not our new friendships. The Newcomers Welcome Committee continued to keep us connected with small group lunches and frequent phone calls to check in on us.
Fast forward five years, here I am becoming the President of the BLO. I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization. I am also grateful for my new board members as each has a special talent to share. We are planning our new year with Health and Happiness as our goal. I feel you will be pleasantly surprised with the new programs and ideas we have in store for you.
We encourage you to join us Monday, January 12th at the Bentwater Yacht Club for our annual membership registration and activities sign up luncheon. Please make your reservations no later than Sunday January 4th by calling the Club Front Desk at (936) 597-2554 or (936) 597-6219 or register online at www.bentwater.com in your member account. We are planning a program to go along with our theme for the year and asking you to wear your tennis shoes or comfy shoes and clothing to this luncheon as we begin the year on how stretching can improve your posture and health. Nothing strenuous, you will remain in your chair, and you can participate or simply take notes—although, elastic waist pants might be welcomed after the holiday season of parties. If you are new to Bentwater or know of someone who would like to attend, please encourage them to do so. Our Newcomers Committee members will be on hand to welcome you and help you navigate the sign up as well as find a place to sit.
