President's Pen
Hello Ladies,
The dog days of summer have arrived. Thank you to the person who invented air conditioning! I trust you are enjoying the summer months here or wherever your travels take you. Although we are on luncheon break, we are not sitting around watching paint dry here in Bentwater.
Mix and Mingle was held on Tuesday, June 16. The theme was “Celebrating 250 Years of America.” We shared our appreciation for this great country in which we live by showing off our red, white and blue. Happy Birthday, America—you’re looking great at 250 years old! Birthday cake was enjoyed by those in attendance. The next Mix and Mingle will be held on Tuesday, July 21. Don’t forget the new time is 4-6 pm. More information below.
I would like to acknowledge Jada England and her support of the Bentwater Ladies Organization through Stroll Bentwater Life magazine. BLO is also grateful for Stroll Bentwater Life and the Bentwater Civic Association for partnering with us to sponsor the Mix and Mingle event each month. This community is truly something special. Neal Diamond put it best in his song: "Hands. Touching hands. Reachin' out. Touching me, touching you."
We had a blast at our first annual summer dance and pool party, “Texas Heat, Miami Beat”, held on Saturday, June 20 at the Yacht Club. After numerous rain showers and storms earlier in the week and day, we were treated to a beautiful star-filled night. Our DJ kept the tunes rolling as the dance floor was rocking with our guests. The Cuban-inspired evening began with appetizers and a wonderful buffet prepared by our own Bentwater Chef, topped off with lemon and mango sherbet and assorted macarons. Thank you for a successful and fun-filled night, Bentwater! We appreciate all who were in attendance.
We are officially kicking off the Holiday Dinner Dance to be held Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12. This year’s theme is “Hollywood, The Golden Age of Glitz and Glamour.” Join us at Mix and Mingle to be the first to get the scoop! This black-tie affair is going to get an Oscar for Best Holiday Dinner Dance To Date! Tickets will go on sale at the September BLO Luncheon, a month earlier than in previous years. Watch for the premiere details.
I hope you all get out and celebrate Fourth of July at the Bentwater parade. Decorate your bicycles, golf carts, etc. We only celebrate turning 250 years old once! Wishing you and yours a very safe and special July. God Bless America!
Cheers!
Cheryl
